It was pouring rain when we woke up but despite that, we had PLANS to follow through on! Cody came for breakfast and helped us use up our excess groceries. We then decided to spend an hour or so packing our suitcases and printing out our boarding passes, booking our bus to the airport, etc. Once we left the apartment at 1:30 we didn’t intend to go back until bedtime.
Armed with our waterproof gear and umbrellas we walked to the National Art Gallery of Ireland and spend a few hours there, even the guys! I think the promise of pie and coffee in the lovely cafeteria in the end might have kept them on task. 🤣 gorgeous building and art exhibits. One of my favourite rooms was a semi dark room full of Irish artists’ stained glass. Amazing!! The pie and coffee were good too despite the pie being 8 Euros per piece!! We calculated that a whole pie would have cost $90 Canadian!!
Headed then out to do some souvenir shopping and get some snacks for the plane. Eldon and Lloyd found a corner in the store that sold a book of Irish sayings and jokes and that kept them occupied while we shopped.
Around 6:00 we walked to the Arlington Hotel where we had tickets for a dinner show of Celtic music and dance. The musicians were spectacular and engaging and the four dancers were talented! The food was delicious. It was a set menu of choice of three starters, main and deserts. Too much food but Lloyd finally got to have his “Dark-n-Stormy” cocktail so he was satisfied that he would leave Ireland having had a Guinness and the Dark-n-Stormy.
Cabbed it back to the Airbnb by 11:00 and fell into bed soon after! A very fine way to end our vacation in Ireland with great friends!
Tomorrow we fly home and while we have had a fabulous time with no glitches so far, we will be glad to land in Canada and make our way home to our own beds!!
Love to all!!
