September 14th – Oh the sights of a different country!

Delicious breakfast – great coffee and so much food! The hosts are lovely and so helpful! Nora basically planned our day for us, which included a lot of “steps” but we did it all!!

Headed downtown right after eating to visit St. John’s Castle – like a museum inside with a lot of history! Very interesting. Then on to The Hunt Museum/art gallery. Two floors of artifacts and paintings. Everything from brooches to pottery. A third floor had a special exhibit of 62 paintings from two well known Irish artists – John Malory and Walter Osborne. A guide did a tour and talk of the paintings and even Eldon and Lloyd thought it was amazing. Most of the paintings were from private owners who lent the pieces to the gallery to make up the exhibit. 1.5 hours!

Next, The Milk Market, a large outdoor market with veggies, food, cheese, crafts etc. Dairy is quite cheap here so bought some delish cheese with croissants! Crowded, but fun! 1 hr.

Headed to the local bus station to catch a bus to the small town of Adare, the prettiest town in Ireland, some say. It was a 30 minute bus ride and was lovely with thatched roofs etc. Walked the town, had ice cream and took the bus back to Limerick.

By this time, 5:00 p.m., we were leg and mind weary! Decided to head back to our rooms for a rest and ordered in food! Lloyd and Eldon went for a stroll to buy some sweets and we enjoyed coffee and a treat in our room while discussing the next days plans. We even watched a bit of a championship rugby game!

Off to bed to rest our tired bones and dream of tomorrow’s adventures!

Love to all!!! 😍😍

Lloyd and I are not “world travellers” but we are about to embark on an adventurous trip to Ireland with our good friends, Eldon and Kathy (who, by the way) are world travellers. We have been planning the details of this trip for over one year and it is now right around the corner. Trying to keep our packing to a minimum as we are lugging our stuff around on public transportation- a challenge for me - minimal packing I mean!! Second challenge - getting on that plane - as many of you know - I don’t love flying but fortunately Lloyd lets me dig my fingers into his arm as long as I need to! This is a fairly long flight - he may regret his generosity!! So.... we are off around the Isle on September 9th for 16 days!! I hope you all enjoy following our travels with us. It is my hope to post each day with a picture or two added. Take a trip with us!!!
